The final installment! :-)

Despite the late night Saturday, we still managed to wake up at a reasonable hour (although I couldn't face wearing hairfalls, boots or corset - good thing I had one fallback outfit!)  to go on a search with [personal profile] morbidfrogand Simon for a Sunday Brunch Buffet - via the railway station for yet another cashpoint stop

Went back to the same cafe we were in on Thursday.  At first the buffet looked a bit small, on closer inspection we realised there was one hell of a lot to choose from!  Feasted on cheeses, meat, bread, hot dishes like eggs and pasta with stewing steak (?), finishing with waffles, fruit and a range of sauces to chose from.  A great start to recover from the night before!
Went our separate ways, Rob and I heading to Parkbühne, via a spot of sightseeing/shopping  in town

Finally found the Parkbühne, not too difficult due to the trail of goths leading the way!
Could it be this direction?

You could hear the music quite clearly from outside the venue, so we decided to crash outside for a while with a bottle of mead.  Rob soon had his boots off and using one as a pillow, was shortly fast asleep.  Me being more restless, went walkabout with my camera.  Saw lots of fantastic outfits and the crowd (festival goers and locals alike) were very friendly.  Also saw a red squirrel but unfortunately someone got in my way to photograph me when I was trying to photograph it! Bah!!

Finally dragged ourselves into the venue in time to see Kloq.  The venue was smaller than I expected but had a great relaxing atmosphere and incredibly loud soundsystem!
Kloq were great, a lot better than I remembered.  Next on were Inertia, not really my thing, so we disappeared to the food/bar area where we met with [profile] gigib [profile] maxvon_dand [profile] solhellnyr    I had been warned off the food here but it looked very tempting, so I ended up with a big plate of mushrooms, potato wedges and tzatziki (sp?) - absolutely gorgeous it was too!
Back inside in time to see Tactical Sekt, as expected [profile] deltressand [profile] sallypointzerowere here in time to see them too! :-)  Great fun to watch, very bouncy and full of energy.

Final band of the evening were Neuroticfish.  Surprised the place wasn't busier, given it was their final gig.  Absolutely fantastic set, didn't realise how much by them that I recognised.  Wasn't really Rob's thing but for me, one of the best bands of the weekend.

After they finished, walked back to Moritzbastei.  Not many people there though, just about everyone we knew were at Fields of the Nephilim.  So we had an early night, leaving around 1am.

Monday - last day. Sob!
Due to change of outfits over the weekend, I was left with my medieval look to go to Kohlrabizircus for all the industrial bands - maybe not entirely appropriate but one of the good things about the german scene is that anything goes!  Decided to add to the look by purchasing bells from the medieval market too!
Had breakfast at the Moritzbastei - I thoroughly recommend that, will be doing it again next year.  Then on to the Viking village for the last time.  Very hot weather, so we didn't do much other than crash out in the shade.
Raced down to Kohlrabizircus in time for the first band, Deviant UK who were great fun as usual.  They got a good little crowd, though I expect the majority were from London too!
The next few bands Gothika, Militant Cheerleaders on the Move and Miss Construction didn't really inspire me, so we sat on the floor with miss_jinxme, enjoying coffee and mead.  I finally got to purchase Fischbrot, which amused me so much last year (literally, fish bread - a fillet of battered fish in a bread roll)

Kohlrabizircus - hmm, looks like a pair of boobs, doesn't it!

Gothika - a bloke in a kimono

Then came the band I was here for - Spetsnaz - totally fantastic! :-)

After they finished, we raced out of the venue (fighting our way through the barrage of smokers at the entrance - sort of defeats the logic of a smoking ban!) into a taxi to the Agra.  Unfortunately missing Donna and Sally, who saw us and sent a text which I didn't get until the taxi was leaving.
Got to the Agra as Saltatio Mortis were finishing.  They sounded interesting but drink and rest outside were our priority.  Caught up with [profile] demondaz, [profile] enlyyl[personal profile] ermingand others outside
Went in to see Faun play, who were wonderful, the sound being even more haunting and ethereal in such a venue, with atmospheric lighting to match.  Soon we were joined by [profile] gigib [profile] maxvon_dLucia, [profile] batpuss [profile] vulcanitaand partner (Steve?  sorry, I'm so bad with names!)

Next on were Suatesh and Leuchtfeuer - a fire show featuring big drums, flaming poi and gothic bellydancers with fire.  Very fun.

Final band were Corvus Corax, who were fantastic.  Big drums, bagpipes, big warrior-type voices and tribal costumes, all very apocalyptic.

Reluctantly left just before the end, so we could avoid the battle to get on the tram, luckily not too long a wait and Rob, myself and [personal profile] ermingwere able to get a seat too!   So glad we decided to finish off here as the music was great and so different to what I'd usually see.  Great to be in the company of friends for the last evening too.
Headed off to the Moritzbastei for our final farewells.  Fortunately not as busy as last year but still quite tiring and soon Rob was begging for us to leave.  Turns out he wasn't the only one wanting an early night, as morbidfrog and Simon soon followed!
 ;-)

Tuesday - time to go home. :-(  Packed up and went to the station to get our lunchtime train to Berlin.  Actually saw [personal profile] giggly_teapot [personal profile] ninshuburand [personal profile] chimera_sfor the first time of the weekend - we were beginning to wonder if they were in Leipzig at all, probably the only people we didn't get to see all weekend!

We had planned to spend the afternoon in Berlin doing a bit of sightseeing with miss_mordred and Martin.  Too knackered for anything energetic though, so we headed to the Tiergarten for the Cafe am Neuen See where we sat all afternoon by the lake with beer and pizza.  A lovely way to finish off the trip! :-)

All the rest of the photos are here
Another fantastic weekend.  Only downsides being the silly smoking law meaning that whilst insides are smoke free, one still gets covered by smoke by battling through it all at entranceways - particularly Kohlrabizircus and the toilets at the Agra.  Also me getting constant nosebleeds all weekend, not sure what caused it but something was affecting my sinuses really badly.

Really want to go back next year, just hope its not getting even more expensive, spent a fortune this year.

Great photos. I ended up taking none at all (other than a couple of bleary phone cam ones!), as I am World's Worst Photographer!

See you soon :o)

It was a concerted effort this year, after last year taking 400 pictures of buildings and only about 10 of the festival!

It was quite an experience attempting to find the way out through the 'fog' of smoke at Kohlrabizircus... Sure everyone who stood there smoking were increasing their chances of cancer ten-fold, inhaling excess smoke from all around them! mad!

I don't think they thought about a smoking plan at that venue; just signs for no smoking everywhere! It took us about 10 minutes to fight our way through the crowd standing in the entrance way.
At least the Agra did extend their outdoor area yet the smokers still congregated by the toilets for some reason!

Absolutely frightful! ;-)
Bank balance is really suffering though as a result, was only brave enough to glimpse at my statement this weekend!

Great times. Nice pics. Glad we got to hook up with you and Rob a few times over the festival, yes even during the daylight hours ;)

Yes, we got to see a lot more people this year, was very much a social event - means we got a lot less done but did make it all more enjoyable. :-)
