WGT Saturday

after the awesomeness of bands on the Friday night, Saturday was a bit up in the air - lots of bands i wouldn't mind seeing but no entire venue line-up of wow.  It did however result in probably the best new discovery of the weekend.  But first, we went to the Victorian Village, this year hosted in a baroque palace to the north of town.

Met up with the usual suspects for lunch/brunch at San Remo Eiscafe - where I had a delicious risotto, followed by a mahoosive boozy fruit icecream sundae which perfectly complemented my outfit!

full of icecream and already fed up of nosy intrusive people with cameras, we set off in search of the tram to Gohliser Schlosschen and the Victorian village.
sadly this swing thingy was nothing to do with the event we were attending

and me not being accused of cultural appropriation. ;-)

It was a stunning location, although a bit smaller than the previous event at the Panorama but it was nice to catch up with friends in such beautiful surroundings.  I did succumb to a purchase from CuNature (no big surprise, as I love the necklace I bought a couple of years back and "needed" another one!).  After much procrastination I picked an anodised stag beetle, which she put onto a necklace for me, its so pretty!
(pic of necklace amidst my other purchases of the weekend!)

there were a couple of acts performing, a rather good Duo Cello (not to be confused with the more famous Two Cellos!)

and some lady who sounded like a drunk aunty at a wedding.  there were more acts to follow but Rob and I needed to dash off to the Schauspielhaus to catch the first band of the day there, a Russian/Siberian dark folk band Nytt Land.  They were well worth catching, very dark, mysterious and powerful, setting the scene for a day of medieval/tribal folk.

We were all heading to the Agra for Wardruna's midnight special set, so strolled together in that direction, picking up a Lee and Toni on the way.  Found somewhere to sit in the food court where we all had a much needed rest before going in to catch the band.   It was unsurprisingly busy but not heaving and we got an OK spot to the side, not too far from the stage.
Wardruna were amazing, as ever!  Although this is now the fourth time we've seen them live, its the first since getting ALL THE CD's so it was a different feeling, knowing all the tracks played, more like a gig than a ritual but still powerful and just out of this world.

After they finished, we headed back into town, deciding against going to Haus Leipzig as we'd heard it had finished early the night before, so instead popped to Moritzbastei to see if anyone was around and then back to our hotel at around 2.30am again.
