I'm guessing you've already researched into exercises, and I'm guessing it's also not something easy to fix. :( I've so many chums with sore knees, including Chris, (it's one of the reasons I got so obsessive about putting a disabled toilet on the ground floor of my house. Some of my chums have sore knees, light to severe, and one is in and out of a wheelchair. Mobility issues are going to nobble us all eventually, it's easy to get complacent when it hasn't happened to you - yet!) Chris and I pretty much walked up a mountain and back a few weeks ago and his knee started protesting on the way down, I was terrified he'd twang it and tumble down the 1000 stone steps in an endless cartwheel, or pitch over the precipice and land on his head. The descent ended up being stressful for both of us, but there was no way off that mountain without personally walking it - it got a bit scary. Google mumbles about more swimming and strictly no running. But it can be difficult to swim every day as it takes ages to get to a suitable pool and back. This is my one gripe of Burnt Oak, there is no pool near me (or my old workplace) that won't involve 2 hours or more travelling to get to. It's particularly tricky in winter. :/ The other low impact option might be an exercise bike, you could do that daily in front of the TV, but a decent one might be pricey. Let me know if you think this could be an option for you. I'd be happy to contribute to a big and useful item for your birthday (providing you really want that item, or another training machine you find that is good for legs and knees) rather than buying random nick-nacks you might have no use for. This is all stuff I've considered for Chris, but he's not got the enthusiasm to work on his knees that you have, (I wish he did!) I tried to get him to swim when we were on holiday but no! Whereas you swim at every chance you get. :D
