A touch over three years ago, I was in Dundee for a week, about to embark upon my part time Masters study in Archives & Records Management.

Tomorrow, I repeat the journey but this time on a daytime train and with Rob for company, ready for my graduation ceremony on Thursday having attained a merit.

Preparing for this has been arguably more stressful than studying for the course itself!  the weekend was spent getting my hair the same colour as my graduation robe :-) which also meant a lot of bleached end being cut off .... I now have short blue hair!  A little shorter than I was anticipating so I now just hope it behaves on Thursday as its too short to tie into a fancy do.

When we arrive tomorrow, hoping that Virgin East Cost run on schedule, I will have a mad dash to check in, get my robe and tickets for the event before the hall closes for the day, and find my parents somewhere - who are crazy and catching an overnight bus tonight instead of the train.

Still no idea what I am wearing.  They are surprisingly formal (compared to Imperial College where graduands wear what they hell they want) and I am supposed to be wearing a black skirt and white blouse.  I've not worn a white blouse since I was in school uniform and not entirely happy about wearing something so unflattering on my big day.  So I now have three, maybe four blouses to take with me!  Two are black with white collars but not sure if the collar will work with the gown.  One plain black but its one of my work shirts, so it doesn't feel smart enough to me.  I then caved and bought a white and black spotted blouse yesterday, mainly because all the other blouses are short sleeved and the forecast is showing a high of 15C for Thursday..... I look hideous in it! Absolutely enormous.  So I guess I'll take them all and decide on the morning, getting Rob to carry a back up option!

And then as a final stress.  Network Rail's railcard app has crashed once again!  So the 2together travelcard, which I absolutely have to show with our tickets, no exceptions, is not accessible.  I followed their instructions and uninstalled the app, which now won't reinstall.  Now waiting for a call back from their helpline when its up and running again - I explained it was vital for me to get this by tomorrow morning. Asked several times what would happen if I couldn't show the travel card through no fault of my own, and the guy kept skirting around the issue. Finally received some compromised and they have sent me an email to confirm I do have a travelcard - so fingers crossed that will work and I don't get some jobsworth ticket inspector who fines us a penalty fare, for their system not working properly.

Don't, just don't get a digital railcard no matter how well they sell it to you - its too damn unreliable.
