..... so Happy New Year then!

Went to Reptile for NYE.  i wasn't really looking forward to it, not my favourite of clubs, combined with the dread/embarrassment of the usual teasing about not being enthusiastic about running round hugging everyone at midnight.  NYE is all just a bit of a build up over nothing for me and signifies the end of the Christmas season, which I do enjoy.

Anyway, despite my lack of oomph in advance, we did have a fun evening.  As usual for that venue, there were lots of people I didn't get to see much of - either through not spotting them at all or just not having a chance to stop in a crowded area; although it was great to see so many friends there  It was lovely to have the extra bar area open, to have an opportunity to sit and chat with friends when the main bar area got too busy.
We stayed until around 3.30 am, when I started to flag and couldn't face any more sweet cider, then had an "interesting" journey home, trying to negotiate our way around the numerous road closures - I've never seen them close off that much of London's streets for NYE before! - meaning we didn't actually get to bed until 5.30am.

didn't get much sleep those remaining hours, as I had developed a rather painful sore throat during the night.  However i was still determined to get out and do something on New Years Day, as I hadn't seen much daylight over the past week or so!  And thankfully, it was a lovely sunny day, what a great start to the year!
By the time we awoke and had brunch, it was too late to head into London, so we went for a walk around Bentley Priory Common.  One of my favourite places to go near where we live.  Due to the constant rain of the past few weeks, it was rather muddy, but we had walking boots on, so made the most of it.
The signposts for the circular walk have worsened every time we visit; so we managed to get through the woods and out onto the stunning common, then down to the deer park.

After that ?????  no signs, no clue.  Tried to remember from last time but ended out on the main Uxbridge Road!  Quite a detour from the circular route and on a main road, but at least we knew where we were going!    This added about a mile to our walk, so i guess we covered about 5 miles in all; quite impressive given this was the first walk I'd done since the knee injury!
Finished off at the Case is Altered pub on Old Redding, a pub with (arguably) the most spectacular viewpoint in London!  Its always been a bit of an odd place and recently became an indian restaurant (like so many pubs in our area) but now, although still Indian run, its back to feeling like a proper pub again and with similarly eccentric service as before.
I took some photos of the deer park on my phone, so far only uploaded to Facebook

Back to work again now, boo!  But its been rather quiet, staff wise, whilst at the same time, total chaos as building works in our office - moving the Director's office into the stationary cupboard (no joke!) - had overran.

Meanwhile at home, making good progress on my medieval dress which i hope to wear for Gala Nocturna.  The cutting out of the velvet nearly killed me, such huge pieces to pin out!  Sewing it together hasn't been as difficult as I'd feared but so far not too optimistic about the weight of the dress, feels a bit flimsy so far.  Will see how it looks when finished and the skirt bulked out with an underskirt but I am worried it won't feel grand enough.  Otherwise, it will be on to plan B and hope that the curtain fabric I spotted in Holloway Road market last month is still there!
