return to Leipzig

Difficult to believe its already been a week since Leipzig! This time last week I was dashing across town in a taxi to catch a better headline band, whilst nursing a damaged leg .... but more on that to follow.
We took a break from WGT last year and combined with having completed my studies, it felt like a lifetime since I was last there, and with time to properly plan/make outfits; so I did wonder how I would cope this year - am I getting too old for 18 hour days, dressed up to the nines?

We took a slightly different route this year, due to missing the cheap train fares from Berlin to Leipzig, so instead were trying out the coach (Flixbus) - this decision was regretted in the run-up due to limited luggage allowance and concerns about delays etc. However it turned out to be a relatively stress-free way to travel and a change of scenery from the usual train route.

travel in style and comfort!

waiting for the coach in Berlin - this building might be familiar to anyone who has watched Captain America Civil War

Got to Leipzig late afternoon on the Thursday, giving us little time to settle in and we quickly unpacked, got our wristbands (in a record 5 minutes, thanks to Germans being too polite to join the mysterious "second queue" - felt like gatecrashers!) and set off to the Sadgoth meet-up at the Rathaus, meeting Andy Burgess on the way (the London club scene as it is these days, we seem to only get to catch up with some friends at festivals in other countries!).
Having been fairly active on the Sadgoth facebook forum (Sadgoth being the nickname of the founder of the forum and invaluable website guide to WGT, not a description of our disposition!), I did intend to try to get talking to various peeps I'd only spoken to online, however the sea of people we encountered on arrival was too daunting and we soon found our usual crowd (Cecile, Simon, Steve K etc) and settled with them, catching up with other people as they passed by.

we found out we were allowed to sit in the "big big chair"

After yummy food, beer and chatter, we made the traditional trip to the Moritzbastei, where we had cocktails and chatted some more, heading back to our hotel around 2am.
