Today I am suffering the hangover from all hell. This is the first time today I've been able to sit upright without wanting to vomit and at some point I have to motivate myself to get ready to go into London tonight - meeting Klif, Vix and others to see Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens.

Last night was the work's christmas party, which turned out to be quite enjoyable. We were let out of work at 3.30 to give us time to get ready. Decided to do myself up to the nines, to show what I'm really like outside of work. I wore my new Chinese dress (bargain 1p purchase off Ebay!), with a sparkly shawl, marcasite necklace and red ringlet hairextentions. Toned the makeup down a bit but still did the red eyeshadow, oriental style. Rob wore his velvet jeans, frock coat, green velvet shirt and black waistcoat. Might post piccies on here when my brain starts functioning again.

Picked Jane and her husband up at 7 and headed to the party, held in a huge marquee in a farm near St Albans. The set-up was very impressive. The theme was Calypso and the marquee was set up to look like a shanty-town, complete with volcano and lights that looked like stars all over the casino.

Met up with the rest of work (or those who weren't too miserable to turn up - about a third of the company refused to come because they didn't want to pay for taxis to get there, this being a £60 per head dinner, paid for by the company - surely arranging own transportation wasn't too much to ask for!)
All the salesmen and engineers were very nicely turned out in dinner jackets. Outfits for female staff were a bit more mixed, some making more of an effort than others. Although I was by far the most over-dressed, I didn't feel too out of place as the whole event was so ostentatious. I got some nice compliments from the salesmen and directors too!

The meal was nice, but not particularly generous and served by staff with military precision. In between courses there was entertainment - calypso dancers and fit athletic men in tiny shorts :-) Drank far too much wine and vodka (sneaked in with me!)
After the meal there was a disco, obviously the music was not to our taste but I did drag Rob up to dance to Spandau Ballet (the effects of too much alcohol!)
Virtually everyone was totally hammered by the end of the night and a fight nearly broke out between 2 of the Salesmen, only stopped by Jane jumping in to separate them.

The journey home had 2 extra passengers, Emily the very drunk office manager and her husband, squeezed in the back with Jane and Michael. For me the journey was very difficult but I managed to keep my dignity and get home before throwing up everywhere!

This morning, Rob had to get up early to await the British Gas engineer. He finally arrived at 1pm and has just left now, unable to fix the problem - cold showers until Tuesday then, when hopefully he should be able to bring a replacement circuit board.
