Taking a break from the spring-cleaning (its fun to watch Rob work while i'm sitting here with a coffee!) to have a brief play on the computer and LJ update.
Yesterday daytime was spent sewing and i succeeded in making Rob's hat! Its come out pretty well, if i do say so myself and if it wasn't for mum's visit next week I'd be tempted to make one for myself too.
Regarding my own Gala Nocturna gown, its pretty much getting there - if some emergency happened and I couldn't do any more sewing, I'd have a perfectly suitable outfit ready to wear..............however, a few more trims and beads are wanting. :-)
Yesterday evening we started off by heading to
morbidfrog 's place for a few drinks with her,
simonsatori and her niece and boyfriend, over from France for the weekend.
Somehow managed to squeeze all four of them in the back of the car and headed to Slimelight. Wandered round the various rooms for a while before finding my spot in the bleep room, ready for Soman to come on stage.
Soman was good fun but its not the best set I've seen him do, by a long shot. I didn't recognise much of what was played, less of the more trancy stuff that i prefer and more hard noise . Seems like he was afflicted by the curse of slimelight too, as he appeared to be having sound problems throughout.
After the set, we found the rest, who were heading home and we popped down to the cafe bar area for a coffee, where we chatted to Karl, his "friend" Fiona and David for a little while, then popped up to the middle floor for a dance.
Music not too bad but mostly I was happy that my fav track off the new Combichrist album was played, Fucktoy (absolutely love that song, despite the "trying too hard to be naughty" lyrics!). It was great to hear that in a club at last! :-)
Before we knew it, it was 4.30 am and given the choice of getting a drink from the bar or polishing off the nice cold (and free!) bottle of water in the car, we decided on the latter and decided to set off home.
The jury is still out on the "new" Slimelight. It has to be said, I used to like Slimes in the old days but Rob didn't, so we got out of the habit of going there more regularly. As a club, it is a fantastic place, with mazelight layout of rooms and corridors and the improved cafe area downstairs makes it a more pleasant place to be. However, for me it fails somewhat as a social place. Its too big and when you're with friends with different musical interests, quite easy to lose everyone. its just not somewhere I can relax, constantly wondering if the music is better in another room or if we'd rather find our friends to chat instead.
Felt a bit deja-vu, as every time the night seems to end with Rob and I being on the middle floor alone amongst strangers! :-)
Tomorrow i have another day off, yay! to be honest, the sewing day was probably not required as all that's left to do for this outfit can be done in the evenings, don't want to start on anything else yet so as not to make too much of a mess before next weekend. So, its just going to be a day of "stuff", going some way to making the long January back in work that little bit shorter.
