Back from Ghent

and with the inevitable hangover/general roughness that ensues from 3 days of seemingly non-stop eating and drinking!
Yes, Ghent is very pretty, has a medieval castle, several churches, canals etc but when visiting in winter a place where quirky bars and interesting drinks are as much of a tourist attraction as the churches/castles/canals et al; well, its kind of inevitable that much of the time would be spent frequenting those places too! :-)
In between all this, we went to a ball.  Danse Macabre was lovely, in a beautiful venue containing lots of beautifully attired and friendly people.  Maybe not quite as wonderful as Gala Nocturna and the atmospheric (ie dark!) lighting made it difficult to see people's outfits, let alone photograph them; but a very fun night was had nevertheless and my dress didn't fall apart (contrary to the nightmare I had the evening before we departed!)

I summarise the weekend briefly now as I'm not sure when I will have a free moment to elaborate further.  I intend to do so, including uploading photos, but I appear to have booked myself up for the rest of this week!  just hope I get some chance to catch up on my sleep inbetween it all!
