to go back to a more positive note (without photos yet, as I don't know when I'll next get the chance!), this is what i got up to over the past rather busy weekend.
Thursday night, went to my first Thanksgiving dinner. Courtesy of Jon and Gigi, with Elsa and Dave coming along too. Jon did a rather splendid job of cooking us a 3 course meal, full of strange ;-) American foodstuffs. Sweet potato with marshmallows baked on top work surprisingly well! :-) It was a very fun night, dining, chatting and playing games.
Friday night it was my boss' 40th birthday. He'd hired a room at the compact and cosy Frieda B cocktail bar in Clapham, where I may have got a teensy bit tipsy on gin mohitos!
Saturday, Rob went to work and I stayed at home nursing a slight hangover. Somehow still managed to be up and down the supermarkets by 9am -figured that it would be even more painful later in the day!
The rest of the day was spent cutting out my Parisien Trained skirt. Crawling on the floor with a hangover was not fun, so it took a little longer than intended. Rob came home from work fairly early, so that we could have dinner and quickly get ready for Slimelight/aesthetic Perfection gig.
Despite getting out early, we still managed to miss part of the first band, due to hellish traffic. Turned out that was no bad thing, as they were not good (IMHO)
Next band on were Kommand + Kontrol. Pretty certain i've seen them before but don't remember enjoying them so much last time! A very fun, bouncy set, with entertaining stage presence.
Then was Uberbyte; not seen them since last April, at Resistanz fest so it was good to see them live again.
In between bands we chatted to various people; lots of folk there that we knew, so it really was a fun evening.
Finally, Aesthetic Perfection! :-) they were fab! the new stuff works just as well live as the older, more familiar tracks and the sound was 100 times better than when we saw them at Koko earlier in the year. Full of energy and fantastic stage presence, the whole audience enjoying themselves, the atmosphere was great. Probably one of the best gigs we've been to this year.
We ended up spending a few hours in Slimelight, as the music was good, lots of friends around and they had some amazing chocolate cake in the downstairs bar. :-)
Part 2 of my weekend to follow soon!
