Back at work still recovering from a fantastic but exhausting week on holiday in sunny South Holland! I managed to take about 600 photos but as the first couple of days didn't involve a camera, I can start my LJ posts within the same month of travel for a change. ;-)
There were 10 of us in all, 7 travelling together by car and ferry, 2 by plane and one currently residing in Amsterdam who joined us for the weekend. Our main reason for the trip was to attend Castlefest, an incredible event which combines medieval, cosplay, reenactment, LARP, music, shopping - basically a dressed up outdoors geek-fest! :-) However we discovered last time that this was located rather close to the elegant resort of Noordwijk and its wide sweeping beaches, so we decided to make a weeks holiday of it.
So, a week ago Monday, 7 of us gathered in Finchley at some ungodly hour and somehow managed to fit all the luggage in the world and 7 passengers into 2 cars, then set off to Harwich for the ferry.

It was a 6+ hour crossing, which went surprisingly fast; spending time chatting, eating, drinking, playing cards and going to the cinema. Rob and I went to see Malificent, whilst Nadia and Smaff saw X-Men (the latest one)
Arrived in Holland, had some delay disembarking but Martin and Amanda were flying to Schiphol and were able to check in on our behalf. We eventually arrived at our bungalows, the lovely Tulp en Zee complex early evening and after failing to find a restaurant open in the area, managed to cobble together a meal and had an evening of cards and beer.
