For the benefit of anyone who's not booked for Leipzig yet (or any other flights one may have in mind), Lufthansa have a 48 hour sale
London - Berlin flights for WGT period are starting at £108 return or £49 single (bearing in mind that's an all-in cost, not having to pay the same again for luggage, credit cards etc - unlike certain other airlines!)

On that note, I'm currently wavering over changing my hotel booking to stay at the Holiday Inn Garden Court instead.  Their advance purchase rate is not too bad and would be more central than Hotel Adagio, where I'm currently booked for.
Anyone know what its like there?  Also, a tad concerned about Advance Purchase booking due to all the usual rumours about WGT flying around the net.  Particularly as nothing has been changed on their website yet, making me a bit uncertain, as announcements are definately later than last year.

I was kind of put off by paying the inflated prices all the chain hotels were charging, which is why I was happier to book for an independant hotel instead.
Still having that nagging doubt about being away from the main station area but it does at least look to be close enough to the Moritzbastei.
Last year the walk back from there each night to the Westin was a killer!

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Garden Court a couple of times. The rooms are a tad on the small side... the room we had the first time, we barely had 2feet of space around the bed. When you're staying for 4-5 days, as we were, it gets a tad tedious, but if you're not planning on being in the your room much, it's bearable. It was a little better the second time but not by much. Otherwise, standard Holiday Inn offerings.

And of course the location is fab... you can almost fall off the train into your hotel room, and also handy for nipping across to Aldi's!

Space would be an issue, with my tendancy for wardrobe crisies (however that would be written as a plural!)
Something about the Adagio really appealed to me when I booked it, I like the idea of not being in a chain hotel for a change. Just a bit further from the main station but looks near enough to the Moritzbastei, which is important enough! :-)

I'd suggest where I usually stay, but it's fully booked! http://www.markhotelgarni.com/

The Adagio looks a lot nicer than the Holiday Inn :o)

That looks to be in a similar part of town, Adagio possibly a bit closer (but down a side street instead). I take it you've not found it too out of the way at all?

Not in the slightest. If we're coming back late from the Agra, we'd get a cab all the way back, but usually because my feet are dying by then.

But on the whole it's usually a really pleasant walk in a nice area of Leipzig. I've never had that awful uncomfortable feeling that you can get from walking around in rough parts of any city!

Thanks for tip! ~ haven't looked at flights yet.

Got a hotel provisionally booked but very pricey so may keep looking too. Vivaldi still had rooms free for reasonable prices last I checked ~ perhaps they'd be closer than your current place?

I think I considered the Vivaldi at the time, think the Adagio is a bit closer and in a better location overall.
Where I'm staying should be fine for the festival itself, just not looking forward to lugging the suitcases there from the Hauptbahnhof when we arrive!
