Saturday daytime

Had to get up relatively early in order to catch breakfast - not bad and only £5 - then back to our room to get dressed up for the day.

After the obligatory tart-pics by the river :-) we went to the Drill Hall to look round the Mechanised Market and then back to the riverside to catch the start of the day's entertainment (and more crumpets!).

Got a call from my parents when they were near and went to meet them and the dogs at the bridge. The dalmatians stole the show! It appears that many steampunks are "doggie people" as opposed to goths who are mostly cat people!
the best-dressed contest came soon and as not many people had submitted themselves at entrants, Tails went round picking people out of the crowd instead. Rob ended up as an entrant and came second! Beaten only by a child, so i guess that had to happen.

After sitting to listen to the brass band, went for a drink at the pub and then my parents had to head off. Rob and I went to the castle to see the contraptions exhibition.

After that, we had an hour or so before the boat trip, so decided to grab food. Unfortunately just missed the barbeque at the Bridge Inn but landlord did some pizzas for us instead.
There may have been some slight nervousness about the boat trip - how big was the boat, how tricky the climb down to it. But we all managed, huddled together as the boat took us down the Wye. Not much in the way of specific sights but the Wye valley is very beautiful and it was lovely to see from this aspect.

the other boat soon caught up with us (looks like they had a bit more shelter than we did too!)

It was a good thing we ate beforehand, arriving back at the dock at 6.30pm, we had a bit of a dash to get back to hotel and changed for the ball!
