Sunday, the final day. :-( how did that happen so soon!

we were all a bit sleepy that day and the Sunday of previous years has been a bit of an anti-climax. However the sun was shining, with a light breeze, so I hoped that despite the lack of bands to see, we could just make the most of the ambiance for the last time.

First of course the photo tartery outside the bungalow, confusing the locals for the last time this year

Couldn't get on the bus, as the queues were a bit long, so had to take a slow walk down that evil rubbly path again, having a coffee and sit down on arrival. A great spot to people watch, just past the entrance but we did attract a lot of attention ourselves, being 5 rather colourful peeps!

I definitely got the impression that the photographers love nothing more than steampunk (excepting scantily clad pretty young ladies of course!), as we got stopped more today for photos than any other day. Also experienced more rude/ill-informed members of the public who thought it their right to demand photos on the spot, regardless of what else we were doing!  The camera club brigade were definitely more respectful this year but the camera regs in force could do nothing about phone cameras.

unfortunately from here onwards, my photos went a bit wierd as one of us set the wrong setting and didn't notice

Anyway, we played games, went shopping, watched Theodor Bastard again and went to the Forest Stage for Rapalje as we guessed that Wendy and family would be there for that one!

Theodor Bastard (phone pic, so wierd hi-contast stuff here!)

keepin' it classy

Found Wendy at the main stage for Rapalje, as suspected!

found the right camera setting again!

There was talk of leaving early to go to the beach, as we've done previous years, however the weather and atmosphere was so lovely, Rob and I wanted to make the most of our time at the festival, which I realise may not have been a popular decision :-( but this is what we came here for! So we finished off by watching Rastaban on the Forest Stage, doing a “replugged” set - very lively and more rocky than their usual sound apparently.

On reflection, having seen the photos later, the closing band at the Forest Stage, Russkaja looked like they might have been fun but it had been a busy full-on weekend, so we were all prepared to call it a night back then and have a decent meal in a local restaurant instead.

By the time we got back to the bungalow and changed, it was starting to get late and concern that food options might be limited on a Sunday night, so we stopped at the restaurant near our bungalow (where I went to recover from my fall a few days previous), lured in by a sign for mussels. Good call! The food was fantastic, mussels fresh and tasty. Both Rob's and Paul's meals looked good too.

The rest  of the evening was spent packing, allowing time for a quick couple of games before calling it a night.

Monday, time to go home! We checked out early and spent a sunny morning in Noordwijkerhout, shopping for supplies for the ferry home and having final ice-cream and drinks.

Robs wonderful looking diy hot chocolate

Got to the ferry with no problems for the 7 hour crossing back, Rob and I going to see Cars 3 in the on board cinema.

yummy lunch purchased from the supermarket - herring, chopped onion on a soft bread roll

unloading our grocery haul, when we got back home

and all the other bits I bought!

Barring the slight accident it was overall a lovely trip away but the results of the accident did affect me socially, conscious I might spoil the festival for others, feeling awkward that I couldn't laze on the grass and have to go off and find seats instead, resulting in me and Rob spending more time by ourselves; also ironically having to walk around more instead of resting, relishing the few moments I had a chance to just sit and chill out like everyone else. The hay bales distributed in various areas of the festival grounds were a godsend, tall enough that I could get down to sit on them but low enough to not feel perched on a seat above everyone else, surprisingly comfy too!
