Although we were tempted to go to the church ruins out at Wachau to see Arcana, didn't really want to spend the day dashing around, so instead we started early at Sixtina for their steampunk day, to catch the first band Pain Rills. Described as a Mexican Steampunk Cabaret Band, there wasn't a great deal of a cabaret element, although the tiny space in Sixtina would limit that anyway, however they were an entertaining enough guitar duo.

Not having had breakfast yet, I started the day with a "Bloody Fairy" - which consituted an absinthe bloody mary slushie! It was a bit odd.

After the band we popped out to the garden to browse the market stalls, where I got tempted with an owl necklace. Had a bit of a catch up with Tessa, having not seen her since Castlefest, then Rob and I set off to Moritzbastei for proper breakfast (or late lunch)

It had to be Spinach Lasagne!!!! I can't believe a place could have the same thing on the menu, without fail, in all the 10 years we've been coming to WGT and it is always great. They must have shares in spinach.

Had a little wander around the Medieval market upstairs then it was band time. We'd decided on Noise Sunday, so that I could take Rob to see the fab venue, Taubchenthal - a former warehouse in an up and coming area of Leipzig.
Suitable dereliction in the area to tart around for photos first, then we got into the venue in time to see most of Greyhound's set - danceable rhythmic noise, a great start to the day.

Between bands we had a lovely courtyard to sit out on a beautiful sunny day.

loved this guy's outfit! it had led strips that lit up when indoors too.

one of the things I like about the Noise days is that there is such a diverse range of people, dressed up or not, anything goes as long as you are there to dance!

Next band were Mono No Aware. A harsher style of Noise, I found it too difficult to listen to from the front so we walked around the venue and checked out the rest of the set from the upstairs balcony.

such a fab venue

Back out to get food before the next band, which included an absinthe icecream roll - icecream freshly frozen on a cold metal plate and scraped up into curls!
I heard Monolith start, the band I most wanted to see, so dashed inside whilst Rob stayed out to finish his icecream. However, disaster struck! I failed to notice a raised cable run on the floor in the dark venue and tripped over it .... in an attempt to stop myself falling, I managed to catch my foot on the next cable run, toppling right over and crash landing into a poor lady in a wheelchair, throwing my new pint of beer over the both of us! The next I knew, I was being lifted up by the shoulders - I initially thought it was security throwing me out but it was a concerned bystander who rushed over to help me. I made my apologies and thanks to those who helped me and shuffled out with a very sore knee to find Rob.
He thought I should sit and rest, however I didn't want to miss Monolith on top of everything else, so I somehow managed to forget my bad knee and dance for the rest of the set. He is just bloody fantastic, IMO the best of the noise bands; tribal noise which just wraps you up and lets you forget about everything else for the duration of the set.

We were considering dashing off to Stadtbad for the rest of the EBM bands but given that I now had a very bruised and swollen knee, thought it best to stay here where we knew I could sit and rest between bands.
Next up were Imminent and Synapscape - more dancy and upbeat than the rest of the bands, great to dance to but I soon got exhausted and had to take a break!

The headline band was Kiew. I recall seeing them many years back and wasn't impressed, however my music taste has changed since then and many friends rave about them, so I thought to give them another chance..... nope! Noisy and difficult to listen to in a bad way, bass vibrating through my body (one thing I really don't enjoy) and to top it off - two guitarists!

Didn't want to end the night on a low note, so we decided to make a dash for Stadtbad, in the hope we could get in for Klutae (Claus Larson, Laeather Strip, side project). There were a row of taxis outside so we jumped into on and hoped we had enough cash - can joke afterwards that it cost me 18Euro to escape guitars!
Stadtbad is another old swimming pool, renovated in a very plush and luxurious style, quite a contrast to shouty old EBM! :-) Surprisingly it wasn't very busy and we got right down to the front, where we spotted Mandy and Jonny. On CD I actually prefer Klutae to Laeather Strip and his lively set was exactly what I needed, however the finale of a run of Laeather Strip classics was the highlight to the set, going down a storm with the crowd.

posh loos!

We had intended to meet everyone else at Haus Leipzig for the Dunkelromantischer Tanz night but as that venue has no seats and my knee was by now really sore, we decided to be "sensible" and go to the Moritzbastei for a couple of cocktails, where we spent some time chatting to various friends who passed by. Another 2.30 finish.
