Back home!
5 April 2011 00:06Back home, exhausted, after a fab, full-on weekend!
Resistanz was fantastic, despite any slight misgivings about spending 2 days in a venue akin to Slimelight but it really worked out well - and no, I really couldn't imagine it working at Slimes either!
The bands were great, despite some major sound glitches but the highlights by far were Faderhead and And One. IF And One finally reschedule their London date, I can't recommend them enough; a fantastically fun show, not enjoyed myself at a gig so much in ages.
Amusing highlight of the weekend was a certain Mr
ulfilias bouncing round on the stage to Modulate. Regrettably I didn't take my camera into the venue (didn't want to waste time taking lots of blurry pictures) but here is a You Tube link to a video made of it (I'm sure he doesn't mind me linking to it here, in case anyone missed it on Facebook!)
One thing which made the event so special was the friendly laidback atmosphere - apart from a few of the usual uber-than-thou types one always gets at these events - but it was great to see the bands wandering around and enjoying the festival along with everyone else. Its a shame that I fail so badly at speaking to people I don't know, particularly when the singer of one of my fav bands was standing a few feet away from me!
To make up for the lack of daylight over the weekend :-) we did some sightseeing excursions either side of the weekend; going to Sudbury House on the way up and the fantastic Calke Abbey on the return. Photo posts will follow soon but I've uploaded the pics on Facebook for the time being (just in case of further Russian DDoS attacks on LJ messing up posts)
Going to be tough going back to work tomorrow!
