Well my plans to get much done this week have been slightly scuppered by forgetting all the things I'd booked myself for in the evenings! :-)

Last night was a wine tasting evening at work, something one of my colleagues has been trying to organise for the past 3 years and it finally came together.
As someone whose knowledge of wine extends to whatever is poured for me by someone else at dinner, it was a surprisingly interesting evening.  A group of 10 of us from the office got to sample a range of 9 wines, presented by a Waitrose wine expert (what a job to have!); starting with a champagne, then moving through whites, reds and finishing off with a port.  He showed us how to sample the wine to best taste the flavours and told us lots of interesting facts about wine production, types of grapes, rivalry etc.  Some of the wines had a really interesting taste, not sure how much was down to appreciating it properly in this situation but they were quite different to anything I'd tried before.

The evening was finished off by polishing off what was left of the wines (*ahem* think I might have had a fair bit of the port!), accompanied by a lovely range of cheeses brought along by the colleague who organised it all.  I think I managed to eat my bodyweight in cheese! :-)

Two main things I summised from the evening - trying the two next to each other, I really don't like white wine any more, got far more enjoyment out of the reds sampled.
- wine really, really doesn't agree with me!
Felt fine when I left the office, started to feel more tipsy on the journey home and then apparently spent the rest of the night snoring on the sofa!

Suffice to say, feel somewhat rough this morning. :-)  Just one day to drag myself through, and then my holiday commences. yayyy!
