Maybe I was too optimistic/foolish to think I could make an outfit for next week's Fairy Ball when I'd hardly be at home!  Its been pretty much non-stop this week.
Had a fun day at [livejournal.com profile] morbidfrog 's on Sunday, playing games, drinking too much fizzy and sweet drinks with mass consumption of olives and cake to attempt to soak up the booze.
Then Monday was her official birthday do, in a very nice pub near Camden Road, the Grand Union, which unfortunately (for my liver) sold rather nice cocktails, with a happy hour too!

Tuesday we resolutely stayed at home and i tried to crack on with making my skirt.  Lots of trim to sew in place before it could all be assembled - by midnight I could barely move my wrists from sewing and Rob had to all but forcibly take the sewing away from me and send me to bed!

In addition to all the social activities, I also have a new distraction.  The Big Egg Hunt!  Like the Elephant Parade a couple of years back, artists have decorated 209 eggs and distributed them throughout London, with maps online to search for them.  How can I resist?  So lunchtimes this week have been spent searching for eggs in the vicinity around work and I need to somehow find time to capture the rest before Easter, when they all go to auction.

(more photos will follow when i get a chance!)

Wednesday night was meant to be another night at home sewing (even turning down a comedy show ticket offer from [livejournal.com profile] motodraconis , much as I'd have loved to have gone!)
However, I first had to head to HMV Piccadilly to purchase a birthday present for our nephew.  First discovered that the #9 bus no longer goes to Piccadilly, so I had to get off at Green Park and walk - of course that meant egg distractions and I managed to add another 15 or so to my collection.

Before i knew it, it was gone 6pm, so I purchased present and headed for the tube home.  first problem - i forgot there was a match at Wembley that night, so the trains were heaving with football supporters, my having picked just the wrong time to travel.  Then we got to Willesden Green, where we waited...............and waited............eventually they turfed us all off the train because of a broken down train at the end of the line.  Cue a platform full of frustrated and rowdy football supporters.
Without boring you all with the details, what followed was 90 minutes of waiting, over-crowded trains, re-diverted trains, my nearly ending up in Harrow (out of my travelcard zone) and finally managing to get to Preston Road and squeeze onto an overcrowded bus to take me the rest of the way home.  Finally got home at 8.30, starving hungry, feeling ill and very pissed off indeed.
Unfortunately this also put my sewing plans out the window, as by the time I got settled, it was too late to make noise with the sewing machine.

Yesterday night we were out again, this time to see Sieben perform his new album, in an east London bar called the Slaughtered Lamb.  I was intending to have a much needed "dry day", however the bar sold German Schwarzbier, so that plan soon went out the window!
It was a fantastic gig.  The two support bands were excellent too.
firstly was These Feathers Have Plumes.  A short set, consisting of a lady playing two glasses of water with a violin bow with additional sound effects from a sampler.  Very haunting and dreamy sound, just a shame it was nearly drowned out by the noise from the upstairs bar.
Next was Bird Radio.  A lively and amiable bloke, with a fantastically powerful voice, who played with a loop device (similar to Sieben) using his vocals and a flute in a multitude of different layers.  Percussion provided by a battered old suitcase with contraptions strapped onto it.
Finally Sieben.  He was a bit nervous, performing new material but I do prefer his smaller, less polished gigs like this, as his personality is nearly as entertaining as the music itself.  He was only playing tracks from the new album and the last one, however they were just as powerful and mesmerising as ever.
The only "problem" was that he finished off with my favourite track from the last album "We Wait for Them", which meant that it didn't matter what else was played during the set, this was the one I was stil humming along to all the way home! :-)
Matt Howden, being the lovely bloke that he is, stayed round in the bar for a little while after happy to speak to, so we all got our new CDs signed!

This weekend is going to be just as busy.  Inferno tonight (yes, i know I don't have to go but I'll be really grumpy to miss yet another weekend of clubbing!), Paul Stick's birthday drinks/food/comedy on Saturday and then Rob's brother's birthday on Sunday.
Its going to be a pretty close thing, having to finish my Fairy Ball outfit next week!
