Friday and Saturday - bands, viking village, shopping!
First day of the festival proper! Still undecided where to go, originally considering the Victorian Picnic via the viking village at Heidnisches Dorf to get food supplies. Rob must have been confused by this plan, as when I emerged from the bathroom in Victorian(ish) wear, he was in his medieval outfit instead! Tried explaining this was not going to be suitable for the picnic, to no avail (bloody men!) so we decided to stick to Heidnisches Dorf instead.
This turned out to be a good plan, it was not too busy there on the first day and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxing. Sampled our first fruit wines, Rob with Löwenblut (dandelion?) and myself on the Sauerkirsch.

As you can see from the photos, hardly the matching couple today! ;-)

enlyyl and myself.

A rare sighting of Mick and Esme!

The slave auction. Not a clue what was being said but it was good fun to watch anyway!
Dragged Rob reluctantly from the village so we could head to Werk 2 to catch some bands.

Caught the end of Beati Mortui (bloody awful!) and found a spot to see Ashbury Heights. I guess I'm in the minority here but I really enjoyed their set! Met with a few people between bands, including a rare early appearance by
gigiband
maxvon_d- out to see a band during daylight! ;-) Also got to meet
psychokatukfor the first time in person - good to finally meet you!
Found a treasured seat at the side of the venue, so stayed there for Santa Hates You. Couldn't really get into them at the time but will give them a second go at Infest. I quite enjoyed the next band Solar Fake but by now Rob was pleading to go back to the Viking Village, so I caved - well, he has to spend the rest of the weekend following me around, had to at least give him one day of his choice!
Spent the rest of the evening, assisted by mead, at the viking village. Later joined by
enlyyl,
demondaz,
gigiband
maxvon_d It was a most pleasant evening, very cosy around the bonfire.

Finally departed to head back to the Moritzbastei when we realised that the loos at the Viking Village would be even more unpleasant at night! Cocktail bar not too busy, so we hit the cocktails - even Rob, with his girlie Mangobinieri!

Despite another late night, we still managed to get up at a reasonable hour on Saturday, even with enough time to go for a swim before heading out! Slight battle with my new, massive Bat hair falls but after eventual success, headed to Bagel Brothers for breakfast where we were lucky enough to grab a canopy seat. Were soon joined by
ermingand a slightly worse for wear
goth_hangover

Yes I'm that hardcore, I can do two mocha frappe's at a time!

morbidfrog and Simon looking very victorian on the tram.
Met with morbidfrog and Simon at Hauptbahnhof where we got the tram to the Agra (well, they should have got off a stop earlier but that's another story!). From here, Rob and I ran the gauntlet of photographers whilst heading up to the Agra for a browse around the market before we settled into Halle 2 for the bands - why the hell they wanted pictures of me, when there were so many fantastic outfits around!

Cybergimps!

Met with
lost_in_avebury, Thomas and friend at their stall in the Agra

Shopping is exhausting!

Some random people pics:

Made a few little purchases, new falls from Headrazor, jewellery and a cool hairy eyeball backpack, which Rob soon discovered doubled nicely as a sporran!

Went into Agra Halle 2, in time to see Reaper - fantastic as usual (shame the same can't be said for my band photos!)

Spectra Paris were OK but a bit boring euro-pop, so chatted to
psychokatukinstead. Signal Aout 42 were too painful to listen to, so we made an escape outside where we met with thegriefqueen. Went back inside in time for Hocico, amazed as to how busy it suddenly became! Unfortunately this meant we'd lost our good viewing spot, so ended up quite far back in the venue. They were fantastic though, definately the band of the weekend. An amazing stage set, complete with Inca witchdoctors, gruesome images and blood. Pure evil! ;-) The music was relentless and the whole venue was bouncing.

After a 30 minute queue for the loos, dashed back in time for Covenant. Neednt have rushed though, due to their over-long intro (5 minutes of music and lighting with no sight of the band is a bit excessive for a short festival slot IMO). Was a tad disappointed by Covenant, although Eskil appeared to be enjoying himself, there was a slight lack of atmosphere in the venue and too many slow tracks. Livened up a bit by the end but by then I was too exhausted from standing.
Somehow we managed to drag our weary bodies to Sixtina, where the others were already stuck into their absinthes. I didn't have the energy to queue for one, so kept to beer from the outside bar instead.

Finished off the night at Darkflower, which was busy (as expected) and full of worse-for-wear goths. Everyone being quite amused by the random bloke who suddenly ended up asleep on
deltress's lap (sorry, couldn't resist posting this piccie, please let me know deltress if you want me to remove it!!)
