Celebrating with a little glass of mead the fact that I have just sewn on the final button (I think) for my military bodice, so the suit is complete! :-)
It was one of those outift ideas that came to me last autumn, so I figured WGT would be a good enough excuse/goal, to make it for.

Not going to reveal any pics of me actually wearing it until after WGT but here are some photos of the outfit itself.  *ahem* Excuse the mess, I really should find a better spot to photograph my creations.

The pattern was based on Truly Victorian's 1880 Jacket Bodice, altered slightly to give a 3/4 sleeve but with the cuff, lower cut at the neckline than a Victorian would wear :-), tabs closures and fitted so that I don't have to wear it with a corset (to allow for some comfort during WGT!)

Detail of the front tab closures

sleeves - cuff detail

arm patch created for me by Veil of Visions.  Epaulettes on the shoulder were made from gold braid, as unfortunately the shoulder cords I purchased were designed with male shoulders in mind and far too long!

detail of back pleat

a pretty last minute addition - braid detail on the sides, just about visible under the arms (seemed an odd place to put it but I saw similar on various Officers jackets and it does actually look pretty effective!)

And here is the skirt its going with (posted on here previously, i think but just to put it all together in one post).  The underskirt is a fishtail, to be worn with a hooped underskirt and the overskirt is Truly Victorian's Side Drape Bustle skirt.  It was originally ALL going to be made from camo fabric but I do like the contrast that the silk dupion gives on the overskirt and jacket trim.

wahoo, all done!  Next I need to finish my oriental jacket and the skirt to go with it, then if time permits I'm hoping to make a 1950's dress for WGT (but maybe it's more important to get on with my Sarabande dress instead, as I already have a few other 50's dresses to choose from for WGT).  And then at some point, I will be able to close the fabric box - until the next purchase!!

So glad I got that green silk fabric - its the one I bought when we went to that market near Elephant and Castle. The colour goes perfectly and makes it a bit more dressed-up.

cool. That's another thing I'd like to make for WGT, as they'd be a great cover-up if I need to wear more practical footwear. So many little bits and pieces that I have in mind but no time to do them all!
